Pizza & Beer Combos

International Beer Day, coming August 5th gives us a chance to try some of these awesome combinations.

  • Margarita Pizza & Blond Ale
      • The consensus is to use a blond ale like Heineken or Stella Artois with the Margarita Pizza, one of our most popular at Old Town Pizzeria. The mozzarella is pretty thick. So, consider a light refreshing beer with it. Granted, we wouldn’t fault you for mixing tequila with a “margarita” pizza, either.
  • Pineapple Pizza & Fruit-Flavored Beer
      • Yes, pineapple is a legitimate pizza topping. What beer goes with it, though? The obvious choice has to be something with fruit elements like blueberry, cherry, or . . . more pineapple. Some IPAs accomplish this but there are many other ales that contain fruit flavors. You can even try the tart cherry taste in Oude Tart.
  • Pepperoni Pizza & Pale Ale/Lager
      • Pepperoni is a staple pizza topping, and so it makes sense to match it with a common but reliable pale ale or lager. There are several options, including Blue Moon, Corona, and Red Stripe.
  • Everything Pizza & IPA
      • This is our supreme pizza that has a little of everything (pepperoni, meatball, sausage, onions, mushrooms, and more). IPAs are rich in hops and other ingredients. If you want to go for full satiety, this combination will always satisfy you.
  • BBQ Chicken Pizza & Amber Ale
      • Amber Ale has a nice brown or auburn appearance, goes down pretty easily, and can accommodate many social settings. BBQ chicken pizza works much the same. We recommend pairing these two together as a nice option any day of the week.
  • White Pizza & Stout
    • So, why mix white pizza with a stout? We really like the contrast here (jet-black beer with white pizza). A strong imperial stout goes particularly well with the nice helping of seasoned ricotta, garlic, mozzarella, and other cheeses on this favorite pizza.

There are, of course, many other wonderful options for mixing beer and pizza. Don’t forget that red wine compliments most red-sauced pizza pretty nicely, too. In fact, there are just so many ways to make traditional pizza a spectacular meal at any time.

Old Town Pizzeria serves only authentic, fresh, and delicious Italian food to patrons in the Port Jefferson area.
